MOST EXPENSIVE UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA 2018 (LATEST) AND THEIR FEES
Government owned (Public) tertiary institutions in
Nigeria is plagued with lack of funds, poor infrastructure, students
unrest and incessant strike actions that often disrupt academic calendars.
These and many other issues are the reasons why
parents who have the means choose to send their children to private
universities, where the system is believed to be a lot better.
The first set of private universities in Nigeria
emerged in 1999 and 19 years after, the country has got over 40 private
tertiary institutions with more springing up.
Here are some of the most expensive universities in
Nigeria and their tuition fees.
1. Igbinedion University

Located in Okada, Edo state, Igbinedion University
is the first private tertiary institution in Nigeria. The institution is owned
by the Igbinedion royal family of Benin Kingdom and its tuition fees range from
N715,000 to N3,000,000 for the 2018/2018 academic session.
2. Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti
Afe Babalola University not Covenant is now the
best private tertiary institution in Nigeria according to Webometrics.
Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, (ABUAD) is one of the
few private universities in Nigeria that is not owned or financed by a
religious group.
It was established in 2009 by a renowned lawyer
and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Afe Babalola. In
the 2017/2018 academic session, the university has its tuition fees ranging
from N872,000 to N1,747,000.
3. Babcock University
Babcock University
This university was established by the Seventh Day
Adventist Church in 1959 as Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) but
got accreditation in 1999. The school is located in Ilishan Remo, Ogun State.
Depending on the course, the tuition fee is between N600,000 and N992,300.
4. Bowen University

Nigerian Baptist Convention. The institution is based in Iwo, Osun State and
charges between N535,000 and N1,725,000.

in January 2008 by Prince Oladega Adebogun. The tuition for the 2018/2019
academic session at Caleb University starts from nothing less than
N230,000 per semester.

Benin City, Edo state.
In its 2017/2018 fees schedule, the institution
pegged its tuition between N297,300 and N1,179,000 depending on the course.

located in Ikeji-Arakeji in Osun State. The university's 2017/2018 tuition fee

David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide. The University is
located in Otta, Ogun state and its 2017/2018 fees range from N817,500 to
N882,500.
12. Achievers University

Achievers University (AU) was established in 2007
and is located in Owo, Ondo state. The 2017/2018 tuition fees of the
institution is between N270,000 and N600,000 depending of the course.
13. Novena University

N450,000 to N564,000 as tuition fees.
14. Adeleke University

in the city of Aba in Abia State. The tuition fee for freshers at the
university is between N452,000 and N464,000.

Nigeria as its tuition for Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences is pegged at
N2,500,000.
17. American University of Nigeria
American University of Nigeria
The American University of Nigeria is a private
university in northeastern Nigeria that offers American style higher education
programs. The school is situated in Yola and it is believed to be one of the
very expensive universities in the country as it has its tuition around
N310,000.00 including meals and accommodation. The university is reportedly
owned by the former Vice-President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Nigerian-Turkish international Colleges. The 2017/2018 tuition fees of this
university are between ₦1,700,000 and ₦5,750,000 depending on the course.

Redeemer's University is one of the prominent
faith-based tertiary institutions in Nigeria. It was established in 2005 by the
General Overseer of the Redeemed Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
For its 2017/2018 academic session, the university
charges between N 563,000 and N823,000.

Bellstech is the first private university of technology established in Nigeria.
It was established in 2004.
The University was established in 2004 by former
President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and it is situated in
Otta Ogun state. The tuition fees range from N553,000 to N643,000 for 100 level
students.
